So I found yesterdays Revolutions class really interesting. We had another teacher come lecture and this is what I got from his class. I wonder what it says about my personality the things I take note of in class. I always thought you can read into someones mind by what they highlight and note. Thus when you read a translation of a book you can understand the translator on a personal level by the words they choose to use and emphasize. So here are my notes...

Four forms of estrangement or alienation found in capitalism
- From oneself;
- From the product of ones own labor;
- from ones own productive action (labor) and
- From other human beings (economic competition)
Dostoevsky
A Faith that beauty will safe the world of ugliness, sin and despair, Verses "a bitter realization that beauty is a dreaful and very frightening thing" (especially to a person like the underground man)
- Human nature has a given "dark" side and a given "luminous side, which cannot be controlled by reason"
-Reason Combined with freedom is a disaster for man; only love...and a sense of beauty will provide positive direction for human existence.
Nietzsche
- If the will to exist (is a yerning to move out from the present condition), then a satisfied will would cease to exist.
- The unsatisfiablity of willing means that the conscious human existence is wretched state brought on by the unceasing and insatiable yearnings of the will;
-Will To Power-
-A human being is, when viewed without various blinders, recognized as alone in a world which is in itself irrational, pointless and ultimatly void of any meaning or significance.
- Reserve hatred for really great competition such as "God/Hell"
- What is the Good Life and how is it possible?
- Power over ones self is key
- Create your own values/meaning. Create your life as a work of art, not everyone is capable of this.
- Life is Agonistic, only you can make your life meaningful.
