Constance Elaine Adcox-Lowden, 59

Constance Elaine Adcox-Lowden, 59, of Montclair, died on Thursday, Sept. 2, of heart failure following complications from surgery.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m., in St. John's Episcopal Church, 55 Montclair Ave., Montclair. A reception will follow at her home. At her request, attendees should not wear black but instead should wear festive attire.
Born in Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. Adcox-Lowden moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1980 and to Montclair in 1983.
She studied at Scripps College in Claremont, Calif., where she earned a bachelor's degree in 1973, and Ecole de Louvre and La Sorbonne in Paris. She also did post-graduate work at the University of New Mexico, studying under noted mystery writer and journalist Tony Hillerman. Though schooled in international relations, French, and journalism, she worked for Verizon Communications in Basking Ridge, dealing with numbers, something she claimed no affinity for. She met her husband, David, while they both attended college in California. They were married in 1980.
Mrs. Adcox-Lowden previously worked at the National Exchange Carrier Association in Whippany, Bell in Newark, and Mountain Bell in Albuquerque. She grew up in a family with many employees in the telecommunications industry; her husband also worked briefly for AT&T. Her interests included bird-watching and restoring her circa-1900 Edwardian home.
Mrs. Adcox-Lowden is survived by her husband of 30 years, David Lowden; her daughter, Sara Adcox-Lowden Thompson of Salt Lake City; her sister, Linda Kimmel of Jarrettsville, Md.; her brother, Loren Adcox of Riverdale, Calif.; her stepfather, Elwood Hella of Union, S.C.; her stepbrother, Roy Hella of Albuquerque; and her stepsisters, Patty Vaughn of Union, S.C., and Nancy Diz of Albuquerque.
